The North Channel, (Irish Channel) which is included as one of the “Oceans 7 swims”. Lies between the North of Ireland and the Mull of Galloway it is a distance of 18.6 nautical miles (35 km.). “Admiralty chart number 2198” We would not consider acting as channel pilots to guide a long distance swimmer, unless they have completed the English Channel successfully . (However since 2012 other pilots now operate and may have an alternative policy) We guide and act as safety boat to other individuals and groups which have rowed, paddle boarded, kayaked and even walked!! across the Channel. Below is a list of Channel successes, the ones highlighted in red were piloted by the “bangorboat” skipper, the 2 highlighted in blue the “bangorboat” skipper was present and acted as tea boy! |
